Anti-SFX remark: Police bring YouTuber Khattar to Goa

Panaji: Youtuber Gautam Khattar, who caused an outrage in the state with his remarks against St Francis Xavier at an event in Vasco, was brought to Goa on Sunday by state police. Khattar had been arrested in Himachal on April 24, and after securing a transit remand, Goa police team landed with the accused at the Manohar international airport on Sunday morning.Khattar was brought to the crime branch in Ribandar, where, responding to reporters’ questions, he simply uttered “satya ki jeet” (truth will prevail) and “aap sabhi ko jai Sree Ram”.He was later taken to the GMC by police for a medical examination. Khattar was produced before the JMFC, Vasco, and has been remanded in six days police custody.Following his derogatory comments on St Francis Xavier, several groups across Goa held protests and filed police complaints against Khattar. An FIR was registered at Vasco police station and protesters demanded immediate arrest. Chief minister Pramod Sawant later assured that Khattar would be arrested at the earliest.The case was handed over to the crime branch and several teams left the state to secure Khattar’s arrest.His brother Madhav Khattar was the first to be arrested, after police investigation found that he was the one who negotiated with organisers of the Vasco event for Gautam’s presence on stage. Police said Madhav wrote the speech for Gautam as well as filmed the speech delivery at the event in Vasco.
