News18 reported that many people often ask what Padma award winners receive after the ceremony. The answer is simple. The Padma Awards carry no cash reward. The government attaches no money, allowance, or concession to Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, or Padma Shri. According to the Padma Awards rules, “No cash allowance or any facility/benefit in terms of concession, etc., in rail/air travel is attached to these awards.”Awardees receive a Sanad, which is a certificate signed by the President of India. They also receive a medallion. A small replica of the medal is also given to the recipient for use at ceremonial occasions. The awards are not titles. Recipients cannot use Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, or Padma Shri as a prefix or suffix to their names. The rules also state that misuse can lead to forfeiture of the award.
