Rana Daggubati on VFX future; Actor says ‘What you imagine can now come alive’
Actor Rana Daggubati, formerly a VFX artist, lauded Hyderabad as a burgeoning hub for cinematic innovation. He highlighted the city’s filmmakers’ drive for groundbreaking cinema and the evolution of VFX technology, enabling imagination to materialize on screen. Daggubati expressed excitement for this era, where visual effects can bring any concept to life.

Rana Daggubati is mainly known for his roles as the powerful Bhallaladeva from SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ franchise. But before becoming a popular actor, he worked behind the scenes as a VFX artist. In the early 2000s, he was part of the growing visual effects field in Indian cinema.Recently, the ‘Kaantha’ actor was invited as the special guest during the launch of Eyeline Studios in India. During the event, Rana Daggubati said Hyderabad is the perfect city for this new beginning. He proudly spoke about the city where he grew up, as per a Hindustan Times report.

Why Hyderabad is the right place

He said, “Today, people speak about Hyderabad as the next centre for innovation. I need to first thank the audiences who kept pushing the filmmakers for bigger and better cinema.”He also praised filmmakers from the city for always trying new ideas and making big films. He praised the filmmakers from the City of Pearls who are always pushing boundaries and said many technicians who worked on major Indian films come from Hyderabad. He mentioned films like ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

Technology changing cinema

Rana Daggubati also shared that he first saw the VFX world closely in 2006 when he was just 21 years old. Since then, he has watched the technology grow step by step. He shared that VFX and CGI have now reached a stage where filmmakers can show exactly what they imagine on screen.“I have been seeing the journey of VFX evolve, and the AI pipeline take shape. I believe this is the best time for such stories because what you can imagine can come alive on the screen now,” Rana said.On the work front, Rana Daggubati was last seen in ‘Kaantha’ alongside Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashri Borse, Samuthirakani and others.
