NEW DELHI: GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) will modernise the group-run Delhi Airport’s cargo terminal, after Turkish company Celebi’s contract was ended at all Indian airports where it operated last May following Operation Sindoor. Now GMR Group-run Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has informed GAL that it has “emerged as the selected bidder to upgrade, modernise, finance, operate, manage and maintain the cargo terminal 1” at Delhi’s IGIA. “The project is based on the revenue share payment model to DIAL for an initial period of upto year 2036 with an estimated revenue share of Rs 340 crore in the first full year of operations,” GMR Airports said in a regulatory filing Friday.“…following directive issued by (govt), DIAL had terminated the then existing cargo concession Agreement on May 15, 2025 with Celebi and had granted the said concession on the existing terms of the concession to GAL on an interim basis to ensure business continuity… DIAL subsequently initiated a competitive bidding process in Nov 2025 wherein (GAL) had participated and submitted its bid. Post completion of bidding process, (GAL) has been identified as the selected bidder and the later of award has been issued by DIAL,“ the regulatory filing added.
