Margao: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday alleged large-scale voter deletions and lack of transparency in delimitation and ward reservation planning ahead of the municipal elections.Sardesai claimed nearly 4,500 voters in his constituency have been removed from electoral rolls without explanation, alleging the deletions disproportionately affect areas of strong opposition support.He also questioned the special intensive revision exercise, citing the absence of ward-wise SC, ST and OBC population data, and asked how reservation decisions were being made without verified demographics. He said the objections based on geographical continuity in the delimitation process have not been adequately addressed.Sardesai further alleged that scheduling elections without publishing demographic data required under Article 243T could render the process legally vulnerable and questioned whether the State Election Commission’s functioning remains independent of govt influence.He said that legal action has been initiated in the matter.
