Lucknow: Naimisharanya is set for a major upgrade, with Uttar Pradesh govt launching the ‘Vedaranyam’ project to blend ancient spiritual traditions with modern visitor amenities, tourism minister Jaiveer Singh said on Wednesday.“The initiative is part of efforts to position Naimisharanya as a major spiritual tourism hub while preserving its cultural essence. The state approved Rs 14.09 crore for the project, releasing Rs 7.04 crore as the first instalment to kick-start work,” he said.Additional chief secretary Amrit Abhijat said the project is designed to promote longer stays and holistic experiences, linking key spiritual sites and enhancing the overall pilgrim ecosystem.“The project aims to create an immersive experience combining spirituality, nature and learning. A central ‘Brahma Sthan’ will anchor the complex, while a sacred zone connected to Chakrateerth will be developed to strengthen the site’s religious significance. Entry areas will feature murals and installations reflecting local heritage,” he said. The authorities also said that a key attraction will be the ‘Ved Van’, with dedicated zones inspired by the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda. The plan also includes Panchvriksha, Ayurveda and Nakshatra-themed areas, along with an audio-guided tree trail to highlight the ecological and spiritual importance of plants.Visitor facilities such as cottages, gazebos, pathways, parking, signage and seating will be developed to improve accessibility and comfort. Modern amenities, including toilets, a cafeteria, ticketing areas and security infrastructure, are also planned. Sustainable features like solar lighting, water ATMs and waste management systems will be integrated.
