Vanessa Hudgens Opens Up About Motherhood and Parenting Journey |

Vanessa Hudgens gives a candid look at her life as a mother after welcoming her second baby
In a heartfelt Instagram post, actress Vanessa Hudgens stripped away the glam to reveal her true parenting experience. Sharing the gritty truth of motherhood—’no makeup, always on the floor’—she highlighted the exhaustion that comes with raising her two little ones. Yet, she celebrated the transformative moments that redefine her priorities, urging others to savor each fleeting second.

Vanessa Hudgens is keeping it real about motherhood. The 37-year-old actress and ‘High School Musical’ star took to Instagram recently with a fresh-faced photo of herself lying on a living room rug, captioning it with a line that resonated with parents everywhere. “Never any makeup and always on the floor. Mom life lol,” she wrote, giving fans a rare, unfiltered glimpse into her days at home with her and husband Cole Tucker’s 20-month-old son and newborn daughter, neither of whose names have been publicly shared.

Vanessa Hudgens on motherhood

Hudgens gave birth to her first child in the summer of 2024, before welcoming her second baby last fall, and parenting duties have her schedule pretty filled these days.Speaking to E! News in August, Hudgens was refreshingly candid about the chaos of juggling two children. “Balance? I don’t know her,” she quipped. “Life is crazy and time is a really precious thing. I am a person of extremes. I’m all in doing one thing or another. So I guess that’s balance, if you call extremes balance.” She added that being a mother is “literally the most exhausting thing on the entire planet.”Despite the exhaustion, Hudgens said motherhood has shifted her perspective in the most meaningful way. “It’s so easy to focus on things in the future,” she shared. “Say, ‘I’ll be happy when,’ or, ‘Things will be easier when.’ But that’s not what’s important. What’s important is the moment that is in front of you.”

Cole Tucker on raising children

Her husband, Cole Tucker, the MLB star who announced his retirement in May 2025, echoed that open-minded approach to parenting. Speaking on the ‘Baseball Isn’t Boring’ podcast in January, Tucker said: “My wife and I both ended up having jobs that people told us would never come true or would never come to fruition, so we’re very open-minded. Whatever our kids want to do, we’ll support them and love them no matter what. I don’t want him to feel like he has any pressure to be a baseball player.” Their son, he revealed, already plays baseball, drums, piano, and guitar.Hudgens and Tucker, who wed in Tulum, Mexico in December 2023, have built a quietly grounded family life away from the spotlight, and if Hudgens’ no-makeup, floor-level Instagram post is anything to go by, she would not have it any other way.
