Admissions for Nursery, KG and Class 1 in Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalayas for the 2026-27 academic session have started from March 2, 2026. The process is being conducted as per the official guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) under the Government of NCT of Delhi. Parents and guardians seeking entry-level admission in Delhi government schools can collect application forms directly from the concerned Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. The last date to obtain and submit the form is March 16, 2026. Authorities have made it clear that admissions will not be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of applications exceeds available seats, selection will be done through a lottery system.
Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalaya admission 2026: Application dates and timings
According to the official DoE guidelines, the issue of application forms has started on March 2, 2026 (Monday) and will continue till March 16, 2026 (Monday), both days inclusive. Forms will be issued only on working days.The timings for issue of application forms are from 08:30 AM to 11:30 AM in morning and general shift schools. In evening shift schools, forms will be issued from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM.Parents must visit the respective Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalaya within these hours to collect and submit the admission form. Schools have been directed to follow the schedule strictly.
Eligibility criteria and age limit for nursery, KG, class 1
Admission is open only to children who are residents of Delhi. Preference will be given to children living within one kilometre of the school. If seats remain vacant, children residing within three kilometres may be considered.The child’s age will be calculated as on March 31, 2026. For Nursery admission 2026, the child must be between 3 and 4 years. For KG, the age should be between 4 and 5 years. For Class 1 admission 2026, the age should be between 5 and 6 years. Limited age relaxation may be allowed as per rules.
Selection process and documents required
Admissions in Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalayas will be finalised through a draw of lots if applications exceed the number of seats. The lottery will be conducted to ensure transparency.Parents should carry documents such as proof of residence in Delhi, birth certificate of the child and relevant category certificates, if applicable, at the time of submission.The education department has directed all schools to complete the Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalaya admission 2026-27 process as per the official schedule.
