As per Sacnilk, ‘Coolie’ earned Rs 53 crore (net) in India till evening shows, and the film reportedly received an average occupancy of 81%. Tamil Nadu dominates the box office earnings as theaters across the home state go housefull, and theaters turn into a festival arena with crowded fans. The overall collection of the film is said to be around Rs 75 crore after the closing of noon shows, and the film, which was released on a working day, is likely to get added occupancy on evening and night shows. The final day 1 gross of ‘Coolie’ is predicted to be around Rs 130 crore, which will be well short of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Leo,’ which grossed Rs 148 crore on the opening day to hold the record of the highest-grossing Tamil film on day 1.
