Filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap will be making his Tollywood acting debut in the upcoming revenge action drama ‘Dacoit’, starring alongside Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur. Ahead of the film’s release next month, the ‘Major’ star shared the story about how Anurag Kashyap joined the film during a wedding.
Adivi Sesh pitching ‘Dacoit’ at wedding
Adivi Sesh, who is also the co-writer of the film, recently shared that he met Anurag Kashyap at a wedding in Hyderabad, as per a report by Mid-Day. It was the wedding of Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya in December 2024.Adivi Sesh revealed that he spoke to Anurag Kashyap about the film right there at the wedding. He said, “I pitched the film to him at the wedding itself.”During the film’s promotions, the ‘G2’ star shared his experience working with him at his house during their first narration, while speaking with IANS. “He was so unfiltered and honest. And it was almost childlike because you don’t see people with that level of honesty because there’s always a certain amount of manicuring and diplomacy we all have in the world. And the fact that he didn’t have it was so refreshing and it was beautiful. And it made me want to be authentic, my authentic self in front of him,” he added.
Anuraj Kashyap helping with Hindi dialogues
Interestingly, the movie has been shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. Adivi Sesh mentioned Anurag Kashyap, “India’s best Hindi dialogue writer.” He added, “Him giving us Hindi lines for free all over was fantastic. That was just good, that was a great moment. He’s a very, very good actor.”
Masterclass for Adivi Sesh
In addition to Anurag Kashyap helping the team with the Hindi dialogue, the ‘Gangs of Wassepur’ director also gave his take in one scene, which was a masterclass for Adivi Sesh. “It’s so interesting that he never actually crossed the line into saying, he never directed us. Just one day after almost 90% of the movie was over, we had a few more days left. He came to me and said, ‘If you’ll give me permission, I just want to tell you one thing in one scene’. I was like, ‘Sir, please’. That one hour was a masterclass for me. I think it’s extraordinary, and just how amazing he is”, he added.‘Dacoit’ will be released on April 10, 2026.
