Ghaziabad: UP govt has released Rs 32 crore as the first instalment for constructing two additional ramps on Hindon Elevated Road. The Rs 91 crore project, cleared under the infrastructure development fund, will add two-lane, 400-metre ramps at Vasundhara and Kanawani.According to the conditions laid down by the state govt, the project will have to be completed in 18 months. Officials said the ramps will improve connectivity towards UP Gate, which is currently unavailable from both locations. The state govt has directed GDA to prepare a detailed project report and to ensure that the project cost does not exceed 10% beyond the estimated cost. “If the cost as per the final DPR is more than 10% of the estimated cost, then GDA will have to seek fresh approval within three months after which the project will not be considered,” a GDA official said. The GDA will have to take Environmental Clearance, and the project should not start till the time EC is obtained,” said the official. GDA will now proceed to wrap up the tendering process within a week, and work will start in a month, informed the official. The Hindon Elevated Road, commissioned in 2018, connects two ends of the city — UP Gate at the Gazipur Border and Rajnagar Extension — reducing the commuting time from 45 minutes to just 10 minutes. The stretch midway is also connected to Indirapuram township and Vasundhara township through two ramps.
