SRFP 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has announced the Summer Research Fellowship Programme 2026, inviting applications from undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students across India. The programme enables selected candidates to undertake research and development projects under the supervision of IIT Delhi faculty.Students from engineering institutes other than IIT Delhi, who rank among the top ten in their respective programmes or branches, are eligible to apply. The online application process is currently open, with submissions accepted until April 3, 2026.Fellowship structure and durationThe fellowship will be conducted over a period of eight weeks during the institute’s vacation schedule. The programme is scheduled to run from May 13, 2026 to July 13, 2026, allowing participants to engage in full-time research activities on campus.Selected students will be registered as visiting students at IIT Delhi for the duration of the fellowship. They will not be required to pay any registration fee to the institute.Financial support and facilitiesThe fellowship includes financial and logistical support for participants. Travel expenses within India will be covered in the form of train fare in sleeper class for journeys to and from IIT Delhi.Accommodation will be provided in institute hostels, including boarding and lodging facilities during the stay. In addition, each selected candidate will receive a weekly stipend of Rs. 2000.Participants are required to arrange insurance coverage for the duration of their stay. The insurance must include provisions for accidents and accidental death, and the cost will be borne by the student.Eligibility criteria and application processUndergraduate applicants must have completed at least two years of study in an engineering degree programme and be among the top ten performers in their respective disciplines. Postgraduate applicants pursuing M.Tech or M.E. must have completed at least one semester, secured a minimum of 70 per cent marks or a CGPA of 7.00 on a ten-point scale, and be ranked within the top ten.Applicants are required to submit an online form along with a photograph, consolidated grade card, rank certificate, and a no objection certificate from their parent institution. Original documents must be presented at the time of joining if selected.The list of selected candidates is expected to be released by the first week of May 2026.
