Malayalam legend Mohanlal and Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay once shared the big screen in the 2014 action thriller Jilla. After Vijay’s political party won the elections, Mohanlal went on to extend his congratulations. Meanwhile, fans have been actively sharing throwback BTS stills from their film.

In one of the pictures from the movie’s sets, Vijay and Mohanlal can be seen sitting together in their costumes. The Malayalam icon can be seen in a white shirt, whereas Vijay dons the police uniform. The ‘Patriot’ actor can be seen inserting one earphone in Vijay’s ears while he seems to be untangling the other one. The pictures bring back the memories of the fans watching the two together in theatres.

Mohanlal on Vijay’s party’s win

After Vijay’s thunderous win in the elections, Mohanlal praised Vijay and the people’s faith in him, as he mentioned him to wear it with “pride and purpose.” In his X (formerly Twitter) handle, his message reads, “Congratulations, dear Vijay, on this wonderful victory. The people have chosen you; their trust is a true honour. I am sure you will wear it with pride and purpose as you embark on this new journey of service. My best wishes to you and your team. @TVKVijayHQ.” Earlier, during his interaction with the media, the Malayalam actor had expressed his feelings towards Thalapathy as he said, “I have known him earlier. We have met each other at a few functions but never had the opportunity to interact frequently. I feel that he is my younger brother.”

About ‘Jilla’

Speaking about the film, ‘Jilla’ was released on January 10, 2014. The story was about a crime boss and his adopted son who becomes a police officer. Their fight and emotions made the film powerful. The movie also features Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead and has Soori, Sampath Raj, Nivetha Thomas, and Pradeep Rawat in supporting roles.
