
NEW DELHI: An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 struck Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.The tremor occurred at 1:39 pm at a shallow depth of 5 km. Its epicentre was located at latitude 34.68 N and longitude 74.39 E, NCS posted on X. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have emerged.The latest jolt comes a day after two earthquakes hit Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Wednesday. The first, of magnitude 3.3, struck at 3:27 am at a depth of 20 km, followed by a stronger 4.0 magnitude tremor at 4:39 am with a depth of 10 km.Authorities are monitoring the situation, and further details are awaited.
