2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift unveiled: Changes in Hyundai Creta rival explained

Volkswagen India has finally unveiled the much-anticipated Taigun in India. The pricing for the model, however, hasn’t been shared. As part of this update, the model brings several changes including cosmetic upgrades, new features and a refreshed powertrain. Here’s a quick look at what’s been changed.

New Volkswagen Taigun: What’s different

As expected, the SUV has gained a slew of cosmetic upgrades which includes a refreshed front grille with a connected LED DRL setup, new illuminated VW logos in the front and rear, new blacked-out alloy wheels with a glossy finish and a connected LED light bar at the rear as well. Besides, the model also features sequential turn indicators and welcome & goodbye tail lamp animations as well. In terms of cabin, it gets up to six upholstery options: six in fabric and six leatherette. The dashboard also gets a two-tone layout. Other changes include the addition of aluminum pedals, red ambient lighting, a new 10.1-inch featuring 15 different applications, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice assistant features. There’s a new 10.25-inch instrument cluster with turn by turn navigation as well.

In the department of features, it gets a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, front seats with power and ventilation functions, touch-based climate controls, and more. As for safety, the model gets a 5-star rating from GNCAP and has over 40+ safety features including front and rear parking sensors, hill-hold assist, traction control, ABS with EBD, ESC, auto-dimming IRVM and more. VW has also added rear disc brakes to the 1.5-litre TSI-powered variants.

New Volkswagen Taigun: Engine options

In terms of powertrain, the model continues with the familiar turbo-petrol engine options. There’s a 1.0-litre TSI that makes 115 hp and 178 Nm. Besides that, it also offers a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine option that puts out 150 hp and 250 Nm. What’s new here is a new 8-speed automatic gearbox option for the 1.0litre TSI. It also comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre TSI continues with a 7-speed DCT. The pricing for the model hasn’t been announced yet but it will continue to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and more.
